Ruby is the Crystal recipe with two extra polishing steps. Glass from Sand meets a Mountain to form Crystal, Earth turns the Crystal into a Gem, and Fire gives that Gem its red color as a Ruby. Each late step adds just one base element, so the chain is easy to follow even though it runs fairly long.
